  • Hazardous waste disposal hits headlines

    We were contacted by the landlord of an industrial unit; his tenant had been storing a large quantity of chemicals and the material was smelling, causing a nuisance to neighbouring units. During which time the tenant had also gone into receivership.

    Upon surveying, it became apparent that the material was not unused chemicals, but waste chemicals and solvents which had been transferred from various hospital and veterinary sites throughout the UK and as the site had no Environmental permit for waste storage it may have been used to illegally store and bulk hazardous waste.

  • Fly tipping removal

    Working with an Essex based skip waste company and the Local Council, we were tasked with the removal of waste drums and IBC's of oils, antifreezes and greases from a lorry trailer that had been abandoned on the public highway in a Basildon Industrial Estate.

    The trailer was removed by the skip company to their nearby transfer station, at the Councils request, where the waste was safely removed from the trailer, inspected, catalogued and removed off site for safe disposal.

  • Horticultural nursey fire

    After a large fire at a West Sussex Nursery, we were asked to assess the risk of any chemicals prior to site clearance and remediation.

    Upon inspection, fire damaged acid and alkali boiler treatment containers were discovered and had to be made safe. As well as those, general fire damaged horticultural chemicals and fertilizers had to be repackaged and all the fire damaged containers removed for offsite disposal. All Hazardous material had to be removed before any other personnel could enter to start the demolition and clearance of the fire damaged part of the Nursery.
